FAQs
-
I’m interested! Where do I start?
We’re so thrilled to have you! You can drop in to any of our classes (except members-only classes like Temple Jam & Goddess Stretch) for $35. If you’re interested in a class-pack or one of our membership options, you can check those out here. All of our classes are beginner-friendly–come as you are, we can’t wait to meet you!

“Am I too old for pole dancing?” “What if I have no upper body strength?” “Do the poles have a weight limit?”
Dancing for enjoyment is something everyone can do, regardless of age, size, or upper body strength. As adults we’re led to believe that movement must be for some purpose, whether it’s fitness, profit, or something else. But what you’ll find in our classes is the invitation to move for your own pleasure, led by your own body. You don’t need to do anything special to prepare for any of our classes.
-
Can I sign my child up for classes?
As of now, no minors are permitted to take class at the studio. This is a unique space where women aged 18 years or older get to luxuriate in some time to themselves and express their own artistry and brilliance; our classes are for adults only (That means they’re for you mom!)
-
What should I bring?
Bring some water and a mat if you have one! We’ll take care of the rest. For pole classes, heels are welcome but totally not required.
-
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothes you can easily move in, like yoga pants, leggings or sweatpants. Dressing in layers is a great idea as things get warm when we’re moving!
For pole classes, you’ll also want to bring some shorts (running shorts, bike shorts, bikini bottoms, yoga shorts, etc.) and a tank top or sports bra–it’s easier to stick to the pole with exposed skin! Most likely, you’ll be taking it easy during your first class, so don’t worry too much about what you’ve got on as long as you’re comfortable!
Community Agreements & Policies
-
We are filled with gratitude for each person that chooses to join our community at Dance Temple. We’ve put much thought into how to create the best experience for our students and these guidelines are in place to support the safety and harmony of our collective. Thank you for carefully reviewing these guidelines. You are the reason a sacred space like Dance Temple can exist.
-
Age/Gender
Dance Temple is open to all women-identified participants 18 years of age and older. At this time, minors are not permitted to take class.
-
Drugs & Alcohol
Alcohol and/or drug use is not permitted at the studio and any students under the influence will not be allowed to participate.
-
Spotting & Physical Contact
Pole dancing can be dangerous, and some tricks may require the use of hands-on spotting from an instructor to ensure the safety of the student. If you’d like to refuse physical assistance, your boundaries will be respected, just note that the instructor may ask you to perform a safer modification of the move or get a crash mat.
Please refrain from spotting, touching or teaching other students while they’re learning. Sometimes free dance may involve multiple dancers at a time, each to their own pole—unless otherwise specified in a workshop or event description–please keep to your own dance space so that all dancers can experience the wondrous freedom and deep embodiment of dance without worrying about contact from another person.
-
Attire
We invite you to wear what lights you up. Dance Temple is a place to explore your artistic expression, and that includes your attire. We believe the human form should be celebrated, but out of respect for all of our members, nudity is not allowed at the studio. Thongs are OK, but unless otherwise specified in a workshop or event description, genitals should be covered and nipples should not show through.
-
Photos & Videos
To honor the privacy of all students, photos and videos may only be taken at designated times. Please refrain from taking photos or videos of other students, and if you’re concerned another person might be in your shot, please give them a heads up and ask permission before capturing. If you’d like a video taken of yourself, please have it done on your own phone. We’d love for you to post your experience online, but please do not post pictures of others without their express consent.
-
Cancellation/Refund Policy
At this time we are not able to issue refunds for purchases. If you cancel your drop-in class 24 hours in advance, you can use your credit toward a future class.
If Dance Temple needs to cancel a class due to no fault of the client, drop-in clients will be able to use the credit for a future class.
-
Music Selection
There may be opportunities to choose your own song to dance to. As everyone in attendance is 18 years of age or older, song choices may include explicit language, though we ask that no slurs are included in the song.
-
Late Arrivals
We know how hard it is to juggle the demands of daily life! We understand there will be times when you are not able to make it to class on-time. No judgment. For safety reasons, the doors will be locked 15 minutes after the start of class time and after that, no one will be permitted to enter the studio.
-
Phones & Presence
Participating in a class or event at Dance Temple is an opportunity to drop deeply into your physical present moment away from your phone. Phone use is generally not permitted and only allowed during designated times (see our photo and video policy). We understand there are cases of emergency, let us know if you need to have your phone with you during class.
-
Privacy
We’d love for you to talk about your experience at Dance Temple with others, but refrain from sharing details and names of other students in class.
-
Permission to Take Care of Yourself
Dance Temple was created to give you the opportunity for a beautiful, cathartic experience. As long as you’re following these guidelines, please feel free to do what you need to take care of yourself in this space. That may include resting your body, opting out of tricks or dancing, taking a moment to yourself, leaving early, etc.
